The island of Senja is located about 350 km north of the polar Circle and combines the beauties of Norway on only 1,600 square kilometers.
Bays where the fine, white coral sand shimmers in the sunlight, lying at the foot of the Caribbean-inspired, crystal clear sea. Above it are rugged mountains that daringly plunge into the depths of the sea. Impressions like from a fairy tale book, united on an island.
Senja has many interesting Mountains but the most spectacular is the 639 m high Segla (right in the picture). Its southwest flank drops so vertically into the sea to the bay of Mefjorden that you can throw a stone straight into the sea from the summit of Segla.
The name means sail and that's what the mountain looks like. One of the most beautiful views of the icon can be seen from Mount Hesten, from where this picture was taken.
However, hiking to the tops of Senja's mountains is only for vertigo-free people. But the views are breathtakingly spectacular in the truest sense of the word.
