Why such a title?
Because I perfectly remember October 12, 2020, the day I went to Lake Moncenisio (between Italy and France) with the intention of photographing the autumn colors.
Once at high altitude I found the freshly fallen snow, and an icy wind swept relentlessly everywhere. But I was there on purpose and I had to bring home the result.
I produced several photos, some unfortunately, due to the strong turbulence, I was forced to trash them ... impossible to turn them into fine-art prints for VASTphotos.
That day, however, I took a lot and walked around for 10 hours in the cold. Shortly before sunset, I went to the beloved Vallone d'Ambin to look for interesting spots. Light snow covered everything.
This photo is the last one I took before sunset. It resumes the peaks towards the Grand Cordonnier and Ambin Peaks area, in an atmosphere made magical by the grazing light, the clouds and the strong contrasts.
