1,696 MEGAPIXEL VAST PHOTO
Punta Helbronner, Courmayeur, Italy
I am very honored to present a series of photos dedicated to the highest and most beautiful mountain of Europe: his Majesty Mont Blanc and his massif.
In this VAST photo you can see one of the most famous and beautiful mountain range of the entire planet: La dent du Geant (The Tooth of the Giant), part of the Mont Blanc massif.
The Dente del Gigante (4,014 meters high - the Dent du Géant in French) is a peak in the Western Alps which is part of the Rochefort group, located in the northern part of the Mont Blanc massif, on the border between Italy and France. The particular profile of this rocky pillar makes it recognizable from both sides of the central part of the massif.
This spectacular photo has been taken directly from the highest point of entire italy: the 360 panoramic terrace of the SkyWay Mont Blanc, the 8th wonder of the world, a unique structure at 3462 meters (11371.39 feet) built over Punta Helbronner.
I planned since several months the ascension in this place, all done with ultra modern cableways. To create this huge VASTphoto I stayed for several hours at a temperature of -25°C (-13F)!!! The ice had also deposited on my eyeglasses, making it very difficult to see around me. Luckily my photo gear (Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon 400mm EF f/5.6 L) resisted the very harsh temprature without problems, probably because, despite the extremely cold during an extremely clear December morning, the humidity at that altitude it's almost nothing.
I have deliberately prepared many previews of the photo, so you can view the incredible details of this immense mountain, including tens of meters high crevasses, imposing snow and rock structures and even a couple of mountaineers as they prepare to climb the top of the Tooth of the Giant!
I hope you will appreciate my work for VAST, which really required a lot of effort, physical resistance and a long and complex post-production work. All this to present you, VAST customers, images unmatched in the world!
