Alps Giants: Gran Paradiso mountain range

2,962 MEGAPIXEL VAST PHOTO
Gran Paradiso National Park, Torino, Italy

This very high resolution photo allows you to see at a glance the entire Alpine chain of the Gran Paradiso massif (4061 meters above sea level), the highest mountain entirely on Italian soil.

You can also admire the Trois Becs lakes in the background, famous for their bright blue color and crystal clear waters, surrounded by meadows and pastures where an enormous variety of flowers and plants grow, many of which are protected species.

In fact, we find ourselves in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, established on 3 December 1922, located between the Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont regions, around the Gran Paradiso massif, managed by the Gran Paradiso National Park Authority, based in Turin. Extending over an area of 71,043.79 hectares, on predominantly mountainous terrain, on the French side it borders the Vanoise National Park.

To take this huge photograph I climbed a slope to find the best composition that could encompass all the peaks and surrounding terrain. With my Canon 400mm lens and the Syrp robotic head, I was able to create this image which will allow you to see even the smallest details of a huge area (focus especially on the glacier and the crevasses).

I'll show you some of the best-known peaks, from left to right:
Gran Serra (3552 meters)
Herbetet (3778 meters)
Punta Frassi (3924 metres)
Gran Paradiso (4061 metres)
Tresenta (3609 meters)
Ciarforon (3642 meters)
Becca di Monciair (3545 metres)
Punta FourĂ  (3411 metres)

VAST Print™

A VAST Print™ represents the pinnacle of the photographic medium. Each print is a true photograph created specifically for you using light-sensitive paper exposed in a darkroom with the industry's highest precision exposure technique. Your print is then sealed with a shine-enhancing protective glossy coating*, adhered to a sturdy aluminum composite backing, and finished in one of two ready-to-hang formats:

  • Frameless floating display: A hidden mounting brace on the rear gracefully "floats" the print off the wall for a sleek, modern look.
  • Framed display: The print is mounted inside one of our handcrafted 100% wood frames with a decorative separation between the print and the frame so that the print appears to be floating within the frame, providing depth and elegance to the finished photo.

*Note: a non-glossy, satin matte coating is alternatively available on request.
