Alps Giants - Sunrise over the Mont Blanc Massif

436 MEGAPIXEL VAST PHOTO
Entrèves, Courmayeur, Italy

I am very honored to present a series of photos dedicated to the highest and most beautiful mountain of Europe: his Majesty Mont Blanc.

In this VAST photo you can see a significant part of the mountain range in the first light of dawn, which goes from the Aiguille Noire de Peuterey (3773 meters) with the first rays of the sun, up to Punta Helbronner (3462 meters) and finishing on the very right on Tour de Jethoula (3339 meters), on whose summit there is the Eighth Wonder of the World, the SkyWay Monte Bianco cableway system.

The photo dates back to December 12, 2022, therefore very recent and was taken from the balcony of the hotel room where I was staying, in Entrèves. The Hotel is right in front of the Mont Blanc massif, with an enviable position.

I am often traveling to this part of the Aosta Valley for work and I have also organized photography workshops right on Mont Blanc.

Mont Blanc (Mont Blanc in French and in Arpitano), with an altitude of 4807 m a.s.l. (according to the last official measurement carried out on December 3, 2017), it is the highest mountain in the Alps, Italy, France and also in Europe, according to some geographical conventions, hence the nicknames of roof of Europe and of King of the Alps, sharing a place among the so-called Seven Peaks of the Planet together with Mount Elbrus in the Caucasus.

Located in the sector of the North-Western Alps, along the alpine section of the Graian Alps, on the watershed between Valle d'Aosta (Val Veny and Val Ferret in Italy) and Upper Savoy (Valle dell'Arve in France), in the municipal territories of Courmayeur and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, gives its name to the massif of the same name, belonging to the subsection of the Mont Blanc Alps. Mainly of a granite nature, bristling with pinnacles and ridges, carved by deep valleys through which numerous glaciers flow, it is considered a mountain of great attraction for international mountaineering and, from the point of view of mountaineering historiography, the birth of mountaineering itself coincides with the date of his first ascent: 8 August 1786.

VAST Print™

A VAST Print™ represents the pinnacle of the photographic medium. Each print is a true photograph created specifically for you using light-sensitive paper exposed in a darkroom with the industry's highest precision exposure technique. Your print is then sealed with a shine-enhancing protective glossy coating*, adhered to a sturdy aluminum composite backing, and finished in one of two ready-to-hang formats:

  • Frameless floating display: A hidden mounting brace on the rear gracefully "floats" the print off the wall for a sleek, modern look.
  • Framed display: The print is mounted inside one of our handcrafted 100% wood frames with a decorative separation between the print and the frame so that the print appears to be floating within the frame, providing depth and elegance to the finished photo.

*Note: a non-glossy, satin matte coating is alternatively available on request.
