I made the pic at 2962 m above sea level from the Zugspitze. It is Germany's highest mountain, which it shares with Austria. The Zugspitze massif is located in Bavaria (Germany) and in the north of Tyrol (Austria). The border between Germany and Austria runs over its western summit.
On the flanks of the Zugspitze are three of the five glaciers in bavaria: the Northern and the Southern Schneeferner, both of which are highly endangered in their existence, as well as the Höllentalferner. Ferner is a local name for glaciers in Bavaria and Tyrol.
In good weather you can enjoy the 4-country view (Austria/Italy/Switzerland/Germany) into the two- and three-thousanders (and the only 4ooo m peak) of the Eastern European Alps. in total more than 400 summits.
The striking mountain (Hochvogel) on the right edge of the picture is permanently monitored by scientists. At the summit, several crevices on the mountain have opened up and have taken on huge proportions in recent months. Gigantic landsal falls are expected and have therefore forbidden the ascent.
