This shot was about 8 miles out on County Road 9 south west of Ridgway, CO. The late afternoon rays of sunlight are illuminating Dallas Peak, left of center, a 13,815-foot (4,211 m) thirteener is located in the Mount Sneffels Wilderness of Uncompahgre National Forest.
Mears Peak, right of center, rises to 13042 feet (3975 m). Dallas and Mears Peaks are two of 357 peaks above thirteen thousand feet. in the San Juan Range. This area on the north side provides some of the best fall colors in the entire San Juan Range.
The late afternoon light on the Aspens and Scrub Oaks enhance their colors . Wild fires in California in 2020 gave the light an even warmer tone than some other years I had photographed at this location.
