There's a Storm Coming In

249 MEGAPIXEL VAST PHOTO
Ridgeway, Colorado

The San Juan Mountains of Colorado are famous for their fabulous fall colors. This image taken on County Road 7 that leads to Blue Lake at the base of 14,158 foot Mount Sneffels that stands proud just right of the center of the photo.

The weather had been fickle this particular afternoon with signs of a storm moving in. As we pasted this pond on County Rd. 7 we stopped because the light was so amazing. With the thick clouds moving in over the mountains, thinner clouds overhead, it really made the fall colors pop.

The pond in the foreground is part of Ralph Lauren’s 17,000-acre Double RL Ranch just outside Telluride. Parts of the original western classic True Grit, starring John Wayne, were filmed on the ranch.
