199 MEGAPIXEL VAST PHOTO
Sausalito, California
Fog adds magic to so many different kinds of scenes. It's one of the things I was most excited about when I moved to Marin County -- fog heaven.
Sausalito and the city is a classic-looking view, but it's surprisingly difficult to find good vantage points to photograph both together, due to the hilly, forested terrain, with houses occupying most of the best views. It is typically done with a drone, which leaves some to be desired in terms of image quality and ability to zoom. I discovered this vantage point in 2021, having never seen it photographed before, a small opening among tall trees. Ironically, it was right in front of me the whole time!
Since then, I have returned several times, and it has become one of my favorite vantage points to photograph sunrises, sunsets, and low fog rolling into the city. This is one of those times!
This image is part of my Awaken series, which showcases the beauty of little-known areas, with the goal of inspiring locals to explore and love our backyard. As of the time of publishing, there is no other image like this in existence. There will undoubtedly be attempts to duplicate it, but few will succeed with the conditions and method required for a large print. As with most images in the Awaken series, serious buyers may choose to have the location revealed to them. I hope you enjoy it!
