Fog adds magic to so many different kinds of scenes. It's one of the things I was most excited about when I moved to Marin County -- fog heaven.
Since moving to the north bay, I have discovered countless vistas and compositions. Some are in areas that thousands of people pass every day, and others are on remote wilderness trails. Beauty truly is all around us.
I took this photo in a relatively popular place, Mt. Tamalpais, but at an unpopular time (very early in the morning) and uncommon set of conditions, the winter Tule fog. This image HAS to be viewed very large, to enjoy all the Bay Area landmarks playing peek-a-boo throughout the scene. How many of them can you find?
This image is part of my Awaken series, which showcases the beauty of little-known areas, with the goal of inspiring locals to explore and love our backyard. As of the time of publishing, there is no other image like this in existence. There will undoubtedly be attempts to duplicate it, but few will succeed with the conditions and method required for a large print. As with most images in the Awaken series, serious buyers may choose to have the location revealed to them. I hope you enjoy it!
