
Crowfoot Glacier is 20-miles NW of Lake Louise and is visible from the Icefields Parkway, which is where this photo was taken. It lays on the flank of Crowfoot Mountain and it's run-off supplies the Bow River. When the early explorers first discovered it, it had three prongs, which gave it it's name. Over time, it has receded, and now there are only two prongs, but it still commands one's attention. The view looks at a vertical side of one of the prongs so several layers of ice, including blue, are visible
