Ponte Pietro, Verona, Veneto, Italy
Verona is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy located north-east in the Veneto region. It is old and steeped in history. As early as the 2nd century BC, the first Roman settlers appeared.
Verona offers an incredible number of sights, one is the Ponte Pietra over the river Adige. The Latin name of the bridge, built around 100 BC, was Pons marmoreus "marble bridge" in ancient times. It has five arches and its construction can be traced back to the pre-Augustan period. The arch near the right bank was rebuilt around 1300, as was the high watchtower. The diversity of the building material gives the bridge a picturesque character.
There are countless restaurants and cafes there. so that some additional weight on the scales after the visit is guaranteed.
The picture was taken from one of the best view points in the city. It feels like I've walked up the many stairs out of the city countless times with my heavy equipment. Just as often something was not perfect. Too many or too few clouds. Mostly way too much haze and wrong timing.
I really wanted to use the few minutes of the blue hour to have a remnant of daylight, but also the lighting of the city. With this shot I was lucky that a previous rain provided good visibility. So I used the short time window of about 15 minutes with a happy grin on my face.
