214 MEGAPIXEL VAST PHOTO
Novato, Marin County, California

Marin County is known around the world for its scenic beauty. I am fortunate enough to be able to call this place home.

I try to take several hikes a week, exploring new areas and revisiting old favorites. There is no need for a gym membership here!

I always bring my camera with me. Never know what opportunities will present themselves. I'm not-so-much the kind of photographer who plans a shot months in advance and visits the location 10 times, then when the conditions are right, anchor down the tripod for hours and get the shot. That's just not how my brain works. I prefer to put myself in situations and areas where good things are likely to happen, and quickly react to inspiration as it comes to me.

Near the top of the mountain I was hiking up, I noticed this little dirt road, leading perfectly into hills bathing in golden evening sunlight. Over the next half hour or so, the light got better and better. Thankfully so, because after photographing my initial composition, I was able to find an even better one just a few feet away.

The beauty of this VAST photo is, we can see every blade of golden grass, every shimmering leaf on the trees. We FEEL like we could take a walk down that road.

But alas, this is an image. None of us know where the road leads. So, dear viewer... it shall be a mystery!

VAST Print™

A VAST Print™ represents the pinnacle of the photographic medium. Each print is a true photograph created specifically for you using light-sensitive paper exposed in a darkroom with the industry's highest precision exposure technique. Your print is then sealed with a shine-enhancing protective glossy coating*, adhered to a sturdy aluminum composite backing, and finished in one of two ready-to-hang formats:

  • Frameless floating display: A hidden mounting brace on the rear gracefully "floats" the print off the wall for a sleek, modern look.
  • Framed display: The print is mounted inside one of our handcrafted 100% wood frames with a decorative separation between the print and the frame so that the print appears to be floating within the frame, providing depth and elegance to the finished photo.

*Note: a non-glossy, satin matte coating is alternatively available on request.
