I really enjoy shooting 360-degree panoramas, and especially stitching them into little planets as you see here. It’s such a unique perspective of our world. This winter I bought a DJI Phantom 4 Pro quadcopter so I could shoot them from even greater heights. This is my home in Lee, Maine from 393ft above ground level on January 23, 2017, 14:52. To the northwest (about 1 o’clock on the circumference) you can see Mt. Katahdin—the highest peak in Maine—on the horizon 46 miles away, and to the south (between 7 and 7 o’clock) you can see Mt. Jefferson in my town 3.25 miles away. The windmills along Rollins Mountain and Dow Mountain can be seen to west (between 9 and 12 o’clock) reaching 3 to 9 miles away. Dwinal Flowage Wildlife Management Area, dedicated to my grandfather and Maine Game Warden, David Priest Sr., stretches to the northwest (3 to 4 o’clock).
Camera settings: 8.8mm, f/6.3, ISO 100, 5 exposures of 1/320 to 1/2000.
Stitching data: 4 rows of 9 images + 2 zenith images x 5 exposures for a total of 190 images.
Equipment used: DJI Phantom 4 Pro, iPhone 7 Plus, and Litchi. RAW conversion from DNG to 16-bit TIFF via Lightroom, aligned with PTGui, and manually blended in Photoshop.

Our ready-to-hang canvas prints are created using a specialty printer that carefully lays pigment inks down onto archival-quality fine art canvas material. The canvas is then stretched around a 1.5-inch-deep wood support structure to provide depth and elegance. Our canvas material has a delightfully matte finish that looks spectacular in any lighting conditions while retaining maximum vibrancy and contrast. Click here to learn more.
