One of Canada’s most recognized mountains, Mount Rundle overlooks the town of Banff in Banff National Park, Alberta. The mountain is large enough that it could be considered a small mountain range, as it extends over 7.5 miles with the tallest of its seven distinct peaks being 9,675 ft.
The mountain presents visitors to the Banff area with many views and dominates the landscape from many vantage points. From the campgrounds on the east side of town, it is front and center and provides campers with a fantastic, in your face view that is particularly beautiful in the morning. Further out of the town, Mount Rundle provides a wonderful backdrop to the many recreational areas in the park. One such area that features Mount Rundle in the distance is picturesque Two Jack Lake.
Two Jack Lake is located on the Lake Minnewanka loop and is a popular place for a scenic drive by or paddle water sports. To capture the tranquil feeling of enjoying the mountain fresh air while silently paddling across the clear water, I set up the equipment I needed to create this VAST photo next to the shore and captured the nearly 150 individual photos I later used to create this exceptionally high resolution photo.
As you explore this photo you will find at least 5 canoes or kayaks on the lake with their lucky occupants enjoying a peaceful glide through the waters of Two Jack Lake with the glorious Mount Rundle towering in the background.
