This is not the well know Reflection Lake but its close, kinda. This is a very small alpine tarn or pond. Its about 18-20 inches deep and maybe 15 feet across and 50 feet long and Mt. Rainier fills it up perfectly. This is a location that showing up late isn't going to work so that means getting on the trail an hour and a half before sunrise so you have time to hike to this out of the way spot and compose the image.
I actually hiked up to this location the day before to scout it out and find the best location and I'm glad I did. I was able to go right to the spot and start making images. This VAST image is made up of 23 images which only took 3-4 minutes to make but in the morning light 3-4 minutes is huge. Of all the series I made that morning from before sunrise to way after I should have stopped I feel this is the most pleasing.
