I made this image one evening in the late Summer of 2019. I've been going to Mt. Rainier since my childhood and I had never been to this location near Chinook Pass to photograph in the evening. There are so many other locations to catch the sunlight on the mountain in the evening that I had never made it here, I'm glad I did.
There wasn't even a whisper of wind and the sound of the elk bugling in the hills behind me sounded so incredibly close that I kept looking behind me to make sure Mother Nature didn't walk up behind me like she has before.
If you travel to Mt. Rainier please remember how fragile that environment is, the growing season is just a few short months from snow melt to first snow so I would like to ask that you stay on the trails.
