The early morning light on the Polychrome Hills provides justification for their name. Known for the many colors of the hills, there is a multitude of colors that reflect off of these hills.
Polychrome Mountain is a prominent 5,900+ ft (1,798+ m) elevation summit located in Denali National Park and Preserve, in the Alaska Range, in Alaska. It is a landmark in the Toklat River valley visible to tourists as the park road traverses the southern slope of the mountain.
My Professional Photographers Pass allowed us to be at this location at sunrise, long before the tour buses started their daily runs. This rare day of nearly blue skies allowed the rising sun to paint the hills in dazzling light. A herd of grazing caribou are visible center left.
