This photo was taken on South Rim at Mather Point April 15, 2022 around 6:20pm, one evening before the full Moon. Moon rise was at 6:07pm that evening with sunset occurring at 7:01pm.
Just below and to the left of the Moon on the horizon Desert View Watchtower can be seen some 16 miles distant from Mather Point. (See the top right close up view.)
Jean & I were walking along Rim Trail in the Mather Point area which offers many scenic views of the canyon. At this spot the Moon had just risen a few minutes earlier. The long shadows of the soon to be setting sun were extending up the canyon and the late afternoon sunlight was setting all the high points in the canyon aglow with warm light. Zoroaster and Brama Temples are seen just right of center on the horizon. At this location Juniper trees at the top of the rim provided nice foreground so I sat my camera rig up and shoot this focus stacked wall mural panorama.
This focus stacked image is made up of 878 Focus Bracketed images processed to yield 114 individual Focus Stacked images, 6 rows x 19 columns 30% overlap in portrait orientation.

Our photographic prints are created using a specialty, large-format fine art printer designed to produce archival, museum-grade prints. They are true "chromogenic" prints: light-sensitive paper exposed in a darkroom using state-of-the-art lasers to produce the sharpest possible image. Click on the icons below to learn more or click here to explore further.
Our photographic prints are available in one of two finishes: glossy and lustre. Glossy prints have a rich, silky saturation and are great for environments where the lighting and reflections have been carefully thought through. Lustre prints have a bright, sparkle-like finish that diffuses reflections and are therefore more versatile for environments where the lighting and reflections are less under your control.
Your print comes with two certificates of authenticity hand-signed by the artist and the printmaker: one that you will affix to the finished piece and one that remains standalone. Additionally, your print's provenance is tracked and verified using state-of-the-art digital technology. Learn more.
Our acrylic glass displays are ready-to-hang works of art that contain one of our photographic prints sealed between flame-polished acrylic glass and an aluminum backing. A hidden mounting brace on the rear causes the display to gracefully "float" off the wall for a sleek, modern frameless look that complements nearly any decor style.
