This image is a high resolution mosaic of the vertical reef wall at the entrance to the “Turtle Tomb” at Sipadan Island.
The site, documented by Jaques Cousteau, is a cavern full of sea turtle skeletons thought to be the result of turtles getting lost in the caverns. This large vertical wall stands near the entrance to the cavern and is covered with marine life that the sea turtles feed on. Many resident sea turtles are found here, often sleeping in the cervices along the reef walls.
