Dallas did not begin building very tall buildings until the early 1900s. While they might have gotten off to a late start compared to Chicago or New York they quickly caught up. Recognized as one of the most beautiful skylines in America it is flush with tall buildings, LED light shows and interesting architecture.
It is very hard to capture an image of this special skyline. Dallas, like much of Texas, is very flat and that does not often afford good vantage points for photography. While not the tallest buildings in the city my focus with this work is on the Fountain Place Towers. The Fountain Place, named after the assortment of 172 fountains located at its base, was designed by multiple architects, including I.M Pei, Henry Cobb, Harry Weese Associates and WZMH Architects. The 60 storeyed late modernist tower resembles a large prism.
In Between the Fountain Place towers you can see the JP Morgan Chase Tower, designed by Richard Keating in 1987, the structure is also known as the “Keyhole Building” and is one of the most unique tall buildings in the United States.
This VAST photo was taken just at sunset on a day that had seen nothing but rain and thunderstorms. I was fortunate enough to have a short break in the weather to capture this image. This photo is stitched from over 250 individual photographs and gives the view incredible detail.
