Big Sur is often praised as “the longest and most scenic stretch of undeveloped coastline in the contiguous United States” and "one of the most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the world, an isolated stretch of road, mythic in reputation". It covers an area from the Carmel Highlands to San Simeon in central California.
Big Sur has some of the most amazing beaches in the United States, with impressive cliffs, waterfalls, wildlife, flowers, trees, and rock formations. The area also boasts redwood coastal forests along with many other attractions.
McWay Falls is an 80 foot tall waterfall found in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. During high tide the falls turns into a tidal falls, or a waterfall that empties directly into the ocean. The beach below is only accessible by boat due to the steep cliffs and disappears completely at high tide. The land the falls sits on was donated to the state in 1961 by Hélène Hooper Brown and it was named for her friend and the ranch’s former caretaker Julia Pfeiffer Burns.
This VAST photo is a bit of an unusual composition. The main trail has mostly collapsed a few hundred feet to the beach below. Visitors are now very limited on where they can go and what views are offered. I chose to create this 201 megapixel photo to produce a tight focus on just the waterfall and lower beach. It’s a different and unique landscape and makes for a stunning image.

Our photographic prints are created using a specialty, large-format fine art printer designed to produce archival, museum-grade prints. They are true "chromogenic" prints: light-sensitive paper exposed in a darkroom using state-of-the-art lasers to produce the sharpest possible image. Click on the icons below to learn more or click here to explore further.
Our photographic prints are available in one of two finishes: glossy and lustre. Glossy prints have a rich, silky saturation and are great for environments where the lighting and reflections have been carefully thought through. Lustre prints have a bright, sparkle-like finish that diffuses reflections and are therefore more versatile for environments where the lighting and reflections are less under your control.
Your print comes with two certificates of authenticity hand-signed by the artist and the printmaker: one that you will affix to the finished piece and one that remains standalone. Additionally, your print's provenance is tracked and verified using state-of-the-art digital technology. Learn more.
Our acrylic glass displays are ready-to-hang works of art that contain one of our photographic prints sealed between flame-polished acrylic glass and an aluminum backing. A hidden mounting brace on the rear causes the display to gracefully "float" off the wall for a sleek, modern frameless look that complements nearly any decor style.
