The Lofoten archipelago is located in northern Norway, several hundred miles beyond the Arctic Circle. Almost every mountain provides breathtaking views of the harsh arctic landscape. Add to that the amazing long shadows cast by the sun, which is low on the horizon, and you have one of the most amazing places for a landscape photographer.
Ballstad, with about a thousand inhabitants, is one of the many fishing villages on the coast. Life is not easy here, mother nature rules here. The photo is from the side of the Ballstadheia mountain.
Taking VAST photos is never easy. But climbing in arctic weather on snowy mountains with heavy equipment in a backpack takes my passion to a new level. The hardest part is waiting for the right light in freezing temperatures.
