Nick Pedersen

Salt Lake City, Utah

Nick Pedersen is an award-winning photographer and digital artist based in Salt Lake City, UT. He holds a BFA degree in Photography, as well as an MFA degree in Digital Imaging from Pratt Institute in New York, where he graduated with distinction. As an Adobe Certified Expert, he is highly specialized in complex photomontage and illustration techniques, creating new worlds from his photographs. Many of his images have been recognized with awards from Digital Arts California, the Adobe Design Achievement Awards, and recently he accepted the prestigious Guru Award at the Photoshop World Conference.

His digital artwork is primarily influenced by nature and environmentalism. Through his work, his main goal is to create elaborate, photorealistic images that carry a message of conservation and sustainability. He hopes to give viewers a space of contemplation by depicting beautifully idealized scenes of the natural world. He has traveled around the globe to photograph in a variety of countries including Central America, Southeast Asia, Western Africa, Europe, and across the US. Originally from Utah, he is now focusing on a wide-ranging series of projects envisioning the American West.

Nick has shown his artwork in galleries across the country and internationally, recently including the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Paradigm Gallery, and Arch Enemy Arts, as well as at events like Art Basel Miami and Rock the Vote. His work has been featured in numerous publications such as Vogue Magazine, Photoshop Creative, After Capture, Juxtapoz, Hi-Fructose, and the Huffington Post. In the past few years he also has completed Artist Residencies at the Banff Center in Canada, the Gullkistan Creative Residency in Iceland, and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art to work on his environmental projects.
